4G EE and 4GEE Officially Available in 12 Cities Today

More details are spilling out on the official day that the UK get’s it’s very of 4G network.  Four UK cities – London, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff – had their 4G signals switched on today with another 12 ready to offer.  Also announced are the official handsets which are ready for launch day but no mention of the iPhone 5.  The iPhone 5 is officially supported and will be ready for EE launch.

EE will also launch superfast 4G mobile and fixed-line fibre broadband services in the coming weeks. It will also offer standard broadband via ADSL in non-fibre areas.

Five handsets were officially announced for EE’s launch today:

  • Nokia Lumia 920
  • Nokia Lumia 820
  • HTC One XL
  • Samsung Galaxy S III LTE
  • Huawei Ascend P1 LTE
  • and now the iPhone 5

Orange and T-mobile Users Network Icon Change.

From today you will no longer see your traditional Orange or T-mobile in the top left hand corner of your phone.  Now you’ll get to see EE despite being on either a 2g or 3g network.

What EE 4g Tariffs Are there?

Microsoft seem to have set a nice trend here of announcing something without pricing.  There’s no word on 4G EE pricing but those with existing tariffs wont be affected.

Will 4G EE Work With The Current iPad?

It’s unknown at the moment about what frequency they are rolling their network out along.  Soon as I know I’ll update this article.

Will 4g EE work with the iPhone?

Apple have just announced that the iPhone 5 will support Everything Everywhere, EE 4G LTE.  We have full specifications of the new iPhone here available.

EEOrange and T-mobile have just updated their websites.  If you’re wondering how well their data packages compare right now, take a look at our articles covering The Best iPad Data Sim Deals and The Best Phone Plan for your iPhone.  Three who have also purchased some of that 4G spectrum have yet to update their site even claiming 4G is not available in the uk.

Three UK have also announced 4g mobile plans of their own and at an amazing £19 a month on a one month rolling contract
